Quality of Life
There
is much to do in Cy-Fair. Numerous cultural, recreational and sports
activities are in the area. Many major events, facilities and professional
sports teams are found in nearby Houston . Cy-Fair is the site of the
Sam Houston Race Park, a Class I thoroughbred racing facility, which
draws people from throughout southeast Texas . The track has year-round
meets. Also included are a family pavilion and picnic area, children's
playground, and a gourmet food center.
Parks and Recreation

Bear Creek Park & Golf World is a major multi-use recreational area
located adjacent to the southern edge of Cy-Fair. This 7,600-acre Harris
County park features 45 holes of golf, soccer fields, a wildlife sanctuary,
a community center and a rodeo arena, in the midst of abundant open
space. Bear Creek is one of the largest public parks in the Houston
region. A. D. Dyess Park on Kitzman Road is home of the largest soccer
complex in the county. Numerous smaller parks are spread throughout
the Cy-Fair area.
Youth and adults both can enjoy the organized sports activities in Cy-Fair. Cy-Fair schools have a winning tradition in competitive sports. Baseball, football, soccer and swimming amateur leagues are both numerous and active locally. The Cypress Creek and Langham Creek Family YMCAs host extensive fitness and sports programs for individuals and families.
Golfing is one of the most popular activities in the area. In addition to the three public golf courses at Bear Creek Golf World, a number of other public and private country clubs have been established. Public courses include BlackHorse Golf Club, Cypress Lakes Golf Club, Gleannloch Farms Golf Club, Houston Oaks Golf & Country Club, Jersey Meadow Golf Course, Longwood Golf Club and Treeline Golf Club. Private courses include Raveneaux Country Club, Hearthstone Country Club, Champions Golf Club and Pine Forest Country Club.

Libraries
Four Harris County library branches are located in the Cy-Fair area.
The Barbara Bush Library is on Cypresswood, the Northwest Branch is
on Regency Green Drive in Cypress and the Bear Creek Branch is on Clay
Road, just south of Cy-Fair. Cy-Fair College , located on Barker
Cypress at the intersection of West Road, is host to the area’s fourth
county branch library.
Performing Arts
Cy-Fair has more than its share of culture. In addition to plays, concerts
and art exhibitions in Houston and other nearby communities, the Lone
Star College-CyFair and the Cy-Fair Independent School District provide
fine arts activities within the local area.

Churches
Many of the nation’s diverse religious sects have facilities in the
Cy-Fair area. Among the local denominations are Assembly of God, Southern
Baptist, Catholic, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,
Lutheran, Episcopal, United Methodist and Presbyterian. There are also
numerous independent Christian churches located in the area.
Medical Service
Several
hospitals and numerous medical support institutions and services are
present in Houston 's northwest quadrant. Cypress Fairbanks Medical
Center Hospital , a full-service, 130-bed facility, has more than 300
physicians on staff. Representing most major medical specialties, the
hospital now has a Women's Health Center and a new cardiac catheterization
laboratory. Some of the latest technologies and equipment for laparoscopic
and gynecological surgery are available at the Women's Center. Those
with coronary problems can utilize the cath lab for diagnostic studies.
The hospital is located at FM 1960 and Jones Road . Methodist Willowbrook
Hospital recently joined the community, featuring doctors offices, diagnostic
facilities, inpatient and outpatient treatment areas, emergency and
birthing centers, laboratory and pharmacy services — all within a 312,000-square
foot complex. Kindred Hospital Houston Northwest complements the services
of these two comprehensive hospitals. Numerous assisted living and skilled
nursing facilities are available in the area.
